Terry,

Starting July 2nd, 2012 eBay allows free photos for all sellers. I've been following the advice in The Auction Revolution for years and hosting my own pictures. Should I continue to do this, or start using eBay's service since it's now free?

I saw a 16 year old kid's Youtube video where he said to always start your
eBay item at 99 cents. He said this is a sure way to generate interest and bring in more bidders. Can you tell me what your thoughts are on this? I have seen where people are doing this, ($45 ended out the winning bid on used pair of shoes, was one example).

Thanks much,

Hi Terry,

I find your articles quite fascinating and well researched.

I am a collector of bank notes (Indian) and have started selling duplicates on ebay.in. I also buy them and resell to finance my collection.

The recent article on drop ship sales on ebay has got my mind thinking. I'm not looking for any great, instant success stories, just something to keep me busy. I wonder if you have a list of drop ship sellers who can be approached or their site visited to understand this line better.

Thanks, and keep sending those emails

Cheers
Pawan

Terry,

First and foremost, you are awesome and your information is priceless. I, for one, will always read your newsletter.

I do have a question as per YOUR request:

There has been many subjects written on the subject of finding a product line and/or niche market and using one of the wholesale supply directories to drop ship them. It just seems that the other sellers on eBay have lower priced sources.

My question is, do you have or know of a REAL resource that can actually walk one through the entire process once of finding eBay products?

Terry, can you guide us as to what/where and how to go about finding products to sell on eBay??

Thanks and God Bless,
Ed

Hi! I'm starting to get mail from eBay begging me to come and sell stuff. Basically, you could
sum it up this way: "Jump in! The water's fine!" I don't remember ever getting anything like this from them before.

After years of doing everything possible to drive individual sellers away (and watching many of them flock over to Amazon), has eBay changed its tune - and if so, is this being translated into any real shifts in eBay fees or their repressive policies?

Hi Terry
There is not much information about appearance of auction descriptions on eBay.

Maybe you could give me a piece of advice about how should look a really good description. I am talking about fonts, colors and sizes I should use.

Basically whether to use bold, italic, underline, centralize in my auction descriptions?

Hey Dude,

I think your the man, your techniques have really help me put my business on eBay into perspective.

As much as I've been reading, I haven't managed to get my listing times down to 3-4 minutes..... I am still up between 5-20 minutes. I use Auctiva a lot, and I feel that might be the issue. and I also have apprehensive tendencies when taking my pictures, because as we all know the best pictures yield the best results. So I feel like I am taking too many pics....

How can I shorten my pic taking time while taking the best pics, really get my best category, write listing descriptions, do my ebay completed listings homework all in 4 minutes?

It would be amazing if you could write an auction revolution newsletter on this, as I think everyone would love to hear it~!

It seems to bottle neck my business, I am a consignment agent, and aside from getting clientele, my biggest problem is shortening my listing time...... any and all advice would be most appreciated~!

Thank you sooo Much Dude~!

And again, Terry.....

Your the man~!

Much Light,

Hi Terry,
I just bought the Auction Revolution, great stuff!

A question about feedback though.

You say you leave feedback when you ship, yet somewhere else you say you left negative feedback after a buyer complained, so that it after he has received the widget.

What exactly is your thoughts?

At the moment I am only leaving feedback after they have left positive for me.

HOW do I advertise and buy Antiques from people through the mail? what if i wanted to buy from people out of state? Not through ebay or auctions but straight from the people. like say if i saw something on craigslist or advertised that I buy antiques and they got in touch me? How would that work? Xause that would open many opportunities for me.

In your recent article about eBay stores, you mention store owners don't pay reserve fees. It is my understanding that as a store subscriber reserve fees are NOT waived. Please confirm this as I do not see any fee waiver associated with having a store.

Love your articles.

Hi Terry,

I searched in you Q&A but didn't find an answer to my concern. My apologies if my question is indeed answered somewhere and I have now to trouble you.

I have an eBay store and accumulated all the e-mail addresses of my customers (a few hundred). I only now realize (I'm started now going more active and want to build a real business) that I should have used the ME page to have my customers opt in so I can send them e-mails. Reading through eBay's terms and conditions, it looks like even sending one e-mail to any customer will put me at risk of spamming. Is there a way how I can get in touch with those customers now and have them opt in so I' don't run into trouble?

Thank you for your time answering this.

Have a great day,
Ralf

Hi Terry,

I have a question about negative feedback and how I should respond (reply to feedback given). I've started to reply but deleted my comment (several times in
fact).

I emailed the Buyer, through Ebay, the following:

"I received your negative feedback on this item but believe you may have posted to the wrong item. The auction closed on July 25th at 3:05 pm with your payment being received July 25th at 9:19 pm. Noted on the auction is that the item will be shipped within 3 business days of close of auction. The third day falls on July 31st which is the same day your item was shipped via USPS Parcel Post which you chose over the faster delivery of Priority Shipping that was offered.

With that, all terms and conditions were adhered to so I can only assume there was an error made in our transaction. Please contact me with your course of action for removal. Thanks. Theresa"

This is his reply:

"the 25th was a wed and the item was not shipped until the following tues. wed thru tues seems like a week to me."

I'm thinking, okay, whatever dude, and I won't be responding to his retarded reply to my email. Also, I have not yet left feedback for him. Probably won't bother with mutual withdrawal or Square Trade either unless initiated by the Buyer (unlikely) or suggested
otherwise - too much trouble.

Terry, I can state just the facts about the transaction which clearly show I am not at fault, blah, blah, blah... and will do so but before that I would like to hear any suggestions you may have for a witty comeback
(witty is not required but sure would be fun!).

I appreciate you taking time to read this. I just discovered and subscribed to your newsletter and will be purchasing other e-books as funds permit. I've grown stale in my selling the last year or so and you have given me a boost that was soooooo needed. Thank you for that!

Your newest fan and fellow Arizonian,

Hello Terry

Thank you for your very informative newsletter, it got me thinking about my own eBay enterprise.

May I ask you a question, I will understand if you don't have time to reply.

I have been selling on eBay for about two years, I sell things of interest to a small niche market consisting of bookbinders, I think we are doing ok, we now list about 25 items regularly and have plans to expand considerably.

I have read your newsletter, and frankly learned quite a lot from them.

My question is this.

I like some aspects of running a store on eBay, in particular the lower listing fees. But I understand that store listings do not get the same exposure that ordinary auction listings do, and I am concerned that our sales will suddenly drop off if I open a store.

Any thoughts on this Terry?

Thank you.

Terry,
I'm wondering if there is a way to take pictures without having to resize them? I'm asking the question because I waste a lot of time resizing my pictures before I put them on eBay. And, I think that I put to many pictures on my auctions. By the way, I'm a French Canadian, but you probably noticed it already :).

I love selling on eBay, but I think that I'm losing too much time placing my auctions. Presently I'm looking to see if I would save time using Turbo Lister. So far when I get to place 5-7 auctions a day I'm happy... and I'm working a lot to do that... If you get a minute, check my auctions that I placed today ... 12 of them, but I took at least 12-14 full hours to do that
:(..

Hoping to get news from you.

Best Regards,

Terry,

I've been receiving and enjoying your newsletter for some time now. I'm not sure if this is the kind of thing you would publicize, but as an eBay seller, this is important at least for you to know... I found (and reported) a bug on the sell your item form. That was about a week ago and eBay has still not fixed it.

The problem is with the domestic shipping (calculated option) fields, particularly the dimensions fields. It seems that if you do not enter the dimensions in the specific order Length, Width then Height the form automatically selects "Irregular Package" and thus shows potential buyers an erroneous shipping fee... - However, no matter what the order, the cubic inches remains the same...

For example, if I enter 10 x 3 x 3, the shipping charges are appropriate for the weight. (Let's just say 6 ounces) However, If I happen to enter the dimensions as 3 x 3 x 10, the "irregular package" checkbox will end up as checked *AFTER* I click the "Save and Continue" button.

One does not even need to complete a listing to see this happen. Simply begin to create a listing entering a light weight and dimensions with the longest dimension NOT in the first field. Then, after clicking "save and continue" go back to edit the listing and you should see the "irregular package" box checked. If you proceed to list the item, an inordinately high shipping fee will show to potential buyers.

From one seller to another, just an FYI...

George Simon

Hi,
I read your ebay consignment e-book. I'm finding a lot of good information in it.

I like the idea of going into Thrift stores to sell their items. My wife brought up an interesting question. If I list an item to sell for them, I'm assuming they would have to take it off the shelf so it won't sell while it's being listed. My concern is that they may not like the idea, especially if it doesn't sell while listed, seeing that they may had the opportunity to sell it while it was listed.

Any ideas on how to handle that? Does ebay let you remove an item if it sells to someone else while it's listed, thinking the store may want to leave the item on the shelf?

     Thanks for any answer,

Hi Terry,

Three times now, I have tried to sell a small statue, exquisitely carved out of marble and resin, of the famous baseball player...Ty Cobb. I've written about him, I used an audio story and ofcourse the promotional sales copy. NOTHING!

The statue cost me $175.00 so I can't sell it for less. It is numbered, museum packed with a framed letter of authenticity...so this is not junk...and will increase in value over time.

Someone told me that classy stuff doesn't sell on eBay but this is Baseball Memorabilia! I simply don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Any advice?

Thanks much,

I know about cases that accounts were suspended because eBay linked active accounts to suspended accounts. Do you have an update on this issue? What could be done in case my account gets suspended?

One of things that I have learned from reading your materials is the importance of pictures. I could not resist sending this picture to you. It probably qualifies as one of the best (lol) pictures of the century.

Hi Terry,

I have been getting your newsletter for some time now. I find the information very informative.

I see that you sell used toys. Do you carry liability insurance in case a child gets hurt on a toy you sell to their parents?

It is amazing to me that most ebay sellers do not know what liability insurance is. They think that I was referring to shipping insurance.

There was a workshop done on eBay awhile ago. It was done by a lawyer and he suggested incorporating. I really don't want to do that right now....I am not a big enough seller to cover the costs of being a corporation. He also suggested liability insurance. I am having trouble finding an insurance company that will cover an eBay seller. I have a business rider on my homeowners insurance policy. It covers my inventory and has liability for selling clothing. I wanted to add toys but my agent does not think they will cover me. My liability amount is only $300,000. The lawyer doing the workshop suggested a $1,000,000. I have been on the discussion boards on eBay but no one has it or does not know what it is.

Thanks so much,

Have you written any updates to your ebook Prospecting on eBay? The reason I ask is because something I read in one of your sales letters or articles made it seem like you wrote it awhile back.

Also instead of sending visitors to the about me page can you just have an optin box where they can opt in for additional information or a free report?

Basically, what I would like to do is sell an ebook or report where it can be delivered digitally and acquire leads of individuals who are looking for a legitimate work from home opportunity.

I have never sold anything on ebay so I'm just wondering if something like this is possible these days without too much hassle? And what kind of volume you think I could produce if what I offer is good quality with respectable copywriting.

By the way, great articles packed with lots of useful information.

Thanks a lot and thanks for your time.

Respectfully,

Hi Terry,

My question is mundane & boring - sorry! BUT it's an important detail.

My wife & I get a lot of the goods we sell on eBay from Garage / Yard / Estate / Tag Sales. For the tax man the cost of purchase is a legit deduction, but you need to have proof of purchase. Sometimes an estate sale is run by an auction company, and will provide receipts, but most are "home" run and do not. If you ask for a receipt, or pull out your own book an ask for a signature, you can get a really cool reception. Some won't do it at all.

Any suggestions? Is there a better way to do it that still satisfies the IRS?

However there is one seller who lists loads of the same jewelry very cheaply - I can't imagine she is making any money as she lists loads at a time very cheaply and I know the wholesale cost.
Anyway because she is so cheap buyers go to her

Any suggestions as to what I can do to poach these buyers

eBay does not allow me to add in email addresses of our buyers from the past. When we used Marketworks, we had an Opt-in section available during buyer checkout, thereby getting about 500 subscribers. eBay store reps tell me the buyers have to join the newsletter request for me to send them something.

I have no idea how to set up or use an autoresponder. My research has pointed out we need to have one. Right now my email address mentioned above are stored on my HD in Excel format, which I know nothing about either.

So, here we set, with all these old email addresses from buyers of our stuff and I can do nothing with them.

I'm not a business. I just use Ebay to get rid of stuff around the house. I cannot afford to pay the Paypal charges for accepting credit card purchase.
I had my 1st dud deal on ebay this week. Bought an item, paid via direct deposit, not received and now the seller is no longer a registered user. Ebay gave me a disconnected mobile phone number for them. Any suggestions?

Thank you so very much I am sure you must get bombarded with questions. I greatly appreciate your time.

Kindest regards,

On NetBiz Radio you talked about using a website to post pictures for your ebay sales items? How can I learn to do that?

Thanks,
